Hattrick Life in Iraq

I would like to write some information about Hattrick life in Iraq and let the rest of the world know about it. There might be some information that people cannot imagine or even think about. On the other hand, perhaps there are also other Hattrick nations where they suffer from the same problems as we have in Iraq. At least I hope it's just in Iraq.
My article is also a little update of my colleague Akkad’s article (9431). That article was written around 2010-04-19 which was 4 years and 5 months ago. In that article he wrote about the safety we have in northern part of Iraq which is called Kurdistan and the internet access for people for playing the Hattrick game.

I would like to put you inside the reality we have in Iraq right now and the current facts that we suffer from during this hard time, as most of you know from the worldwide media, about the war against terrorism and IS (Islamic State) in Iraq.

There have been many questions to me, “are you really from Erbil?” “How is the situation over there?”

Erbil City - Capital of Arab Tourism in Year 2014

I am sure that very few of you know that the capital of tourism in Arab world is Erbil. When we speak about tourism in Arab world, we will immediately think about Dubai. Erbil city has been under huge construction in last 8 years and billions dollars of investment and construction have come to Erbil, especially after exploration of oil in the area. All in all, the city was going to be the second Dubai.

Yes, I am originally Kurdish, from Erbil and I live here now. I have also Norwegian passport, since I lived there before for 17 years. I came back to my native city Erbil and I work now with a German company. I have been playing Hattrick for many years and I am the current Coach for the National Team of Al Iraq.

Unfortunately, the terrorist IS (Islamic State) has attacked the northern part of Iraq and they want to take over Erbil. I remember during my first NT Qualification World Cup match, against Chile, the IS were just 35 KM away from me! I was afraid! I remember I was reading the forum of Chile to see news about the match, I saw how people were writing in the forum and they shared their support and their opinion about the match. I see how the people are enjoying the life and they are free people. They are far from such problems and events like we have here in Iraq; on the other side of world the Coach of Iraq is sitting and afraid for his life! It can happen at any time! But in fact, and honestly, I have always believed that our brave soldier of the Peshmerga and our friends from Europa & America will stop those terrorists. Afterwards, I did not leave the Hattrick and I ordered the match (496510964)! It’s my job I have to do it! It's also my love of the game Hattrick!

I remember I followed the match with two of my close friends here in Hattrick, Berti (540948) & DevonRex (4314073) in Iraqi forum. I did not tell them about the current situation, but honestly one of my eyes was on my father who was in the other room of home as he was watching news on TV to check the developments of the war.

Well, thankfully, the situation is much better now. There is still war against those terrorists but with all the help we get from our friends around the world the terrorists are pulling back day by day. And the safety, day by day, comes back to our lovely city of Erbil.

Electricity and Internet Access

As we suffer from electricity shortages in Iraq, many times I have to order my matches in a good time before the match starts due to the unstable electricity. The major problem for playing the Hattrick game is the electricity. There are two types of electricity, governmental and local, usually they are giving electricity one at a time, governmental for 18 hours and local for 6 hours. There is no access to Hattrick when it's changing time between one type to the other as it can happen that we are without electricity for several hours.

The internet access has been updated and more people have access to internet at home now. We have ADSL2 and 4G. That's why most of the Iraqi people are playing the game at home now, unlike the old time when I remember I was playing in an internet cafe.

Still, sometimes we have problems with internet access due to bad cables. It causes many interruptions and it leads to not having internet access. That's why most of Iraqi users need to have both internet types ADSL & Mobile 4G. I personally lost many bids on players in transfer market because of such problem.

Generally, these are some of our obstacles and problems we have as users from Al Iraq. I hope that other Hattrick nations’ users are not having such problems.

Second Teams & Al Iraq Community

As I am one of the oldest users here in Iraq Hattrick World I am very glad that Hattrick management & developers founded a solution for having a second team. As our community was almost dead with just few users, now with the second team managers life came back to our community. We have got much stronger NT and I am very thankful to each manager who is helping the Iraqi community.
